I’m very pleased to say that the album Sunshine On Your Doorstep by Joe Dooley & Andrew Mackintosh has been released and is available on stream and download on all the usual platforms. I have spent four years producing this album for Joe and Andrew and I am really very proud of how is has turned out.

As well as recording and mixing the album, I also sung plenty of backing vocals, played all the drums and a load of keyboards too. I even dusted off the old Shruti Box again as it sounded so lovely on their first album back in 2010.

The album features 9 original songs by Joe and Andrew along with a really lovely version of Beeswing by Richard Thompson. Although I’ve long been a fan, I had never actually heard this song before we recorded Joe and Andrew’s version.

I’ve had fun resisting the temptation to listen to the original all these years whilst we recorded, so I wouldn’t get unduly influenced by it. Now that we’ve finished I’ve had a listen and (whisper it), I think I prefer our version – nobody tell Mr Thompson!

Thank you to Wanda for all her love and support whilst we made the album. Not only did she add some lovely backing vocals of her own, but she kept us all fed with homemade cakes and biscuits whilst the four of us sat around the kitchen table putting the world to rights each time we took a break to have a cup of tea. This ended up being just as enjoyable as recording the actual album.
